Inspired by Netflix’s “Black Mirror” and “Reface” , an application where you can swap faces in the videos, I started looking into technologies such as Augmented Reality, Deepfake, Speech/Video Synthesis and AI humans, also known as Virtual avatars.

During this fun research of mine, I saw a video of President Moon, the president of South Korea, saying that he is not a real person but an Artificial Human created with video synthesis technology. It was breathtaking.

I immediately applied for DeepBrain AI and luckily here I am. LOL.

Grevivals: Can you introduce DeepBrain AI to our audience a little bit? How would you describe DeepBrain AI in a few words?

Grevivals: The new environment centered on people and technology requires a change in daily lifestyle. Can you please tell us what DeepBrain AI believes about artificial intelligence?

John: Here is an example. Everyone now has been to, or heard of ‘Amazon Go’ an unmanned store that is now become a new trend of the next offline commerce. But there are some downsides to it. Customers can feel uncomfortable in environments like this. This is where Deepbrain comes in. Deepbrain’s AI shop assistants can make the shopping experience more natural for customers and guide them through the shopping and payment processes with its human-like appearances.

Not just that, we are implementing AI bankers into banks to augment not only the customer experience but to enhance the work efficiency of bankers too. The AI bankers will greet the customers and take a pre-survey of what the customer wants at the bank. It will then allocate an actual banker who can proceed with the actual jobs. By doing this, it will reduce the overall waiting time for the customers and also help bankers take care of the repeated routines and make their lives a bit easier.

Grevivals: Various industries (finance, retail, healthcare, media, etc.) still struggle to properly incorporate the highly demanded AI technology. What kind of supports DeepBrain AI does offer as social responsibility?

John: What do you imagine when you think of Artificial Intelligence? My first impression was the color ‘Blue’. Many people still fear AI and think it is somewhat cold. But AI is a very effective tool that is and will help our everyday lives.

We are associated with a lot of projects in all the fields mentioned in your question. I think this is because we can melt down the cold image with our AI Human. Not only that, having a human-like appearance will also deliver trust to users, which is hard to get from an animated character. AI Human will be used to enhance the usage of AI.

Our very first customer was a broadcasting company. We created an AI news anchor named Kim Ju-ha for MBN (Maeil Broadcasting Network). Kim Ju-Ha is one of the most famous news anchors who even has a prime-time news program. Currently, AI Kim Ju-Ha is used to make two AI news reports every day. This proves that AI Humans can be trusted by viewers and enterprises.

DeepBrain AI not only delivers a state of the art technology but connects it with people.

John: Thank you very much. AI Studios is a SaaS platform promoting our video synthesis technology to a much broader user. We engage with many projects and enterprises directly but AI Studios is a platform which we hope small and medium sized companies and content creators benefit from. I am personally honored to take a part in this achievement and hope many of our potential users really benefit from AI Studios.

For users not familiar with the platform, AI Studios is a tool to create videos with AI Humans, which are almost identical to a real human being. Users can make videos easily, just by typing in the text script that needs to be spoken by the AI Human.

Grevivals: What is the mission and vision of DeepBrain AI?

John: ‘AI for human life’, this is our vision and mission.

We are implementing AI Humans in various projects with various clients. By doing so we believe that we are taking a part in helping man-kind adopt a new era.

For instance, the pandemic brought contactless industry to start in earnest. Our AI Human implemented in a kiosk can assist people with unfamiliar with technologies. Let’s say that an elder visited an unmanned store. He or She would feel uncomfortable or just don’t know what to do. This is where our AI Human comes in. It will talk to them and assist, guide the elders get the information they need with a human-like appearance.

John: Our core technology is a video synthesis algorithm that can create a facial video with perfect lip syncing. The biggest competitor is iflytek, one of the biggest AI companies from China. Deepbrain AI and Iflytek delivers similar technologies and solutions. But they are blacklisted by the American government for political reasons.

Many people saw the Samsung Neon in the 2020 CES and Samsung unveiled their AI human in that exhibition. They showed a fantastic promo video but in the working demo, they failed to make sophisticated lip sync videos. Also, it seems that the Samsung Neon project stopped. As a result, we don’t consider Samsung Neon a competitor. Anymore.

So, we are the sole company operating with such technologies and solutions in the US market.

Grevivals: In your opinion, what is the biggest strength of your organization? Can you please tell us about the future plans of your company?

John: We believe that this is just the starting point of AI Human technology. We are providing our technology in the form of mobile/web apps and AI Kiosks. We also have a SaaS platform for smaller enterprises. But we are just in the first phase of our technology.

There are a variety of industries that our technology can be applied to. For 5G, telcos are promoting AR and VR. These services intend to make immersive contents like 360-degrees holograms. Therefore, they also need realistic AI Humans for their services. Also, metaverse is a very suitable environment for our AI technology. In this virtual world, people would want to have their avatars looking just like them. It will have the face, voice and body gestures that will represent the users in this new world.

In the near future, we will be applying our AI Humans to movies and animations. We are already getting requests from movie production companies. Our technology will also be used in the animation field. Animations are made with 3D characters. But with our technology, we create more human-like figures.

We are foreseeing innumerable use cases. The biggest strength of DeepBrain AI is that it is adoptable in any sort of consumer facing environment.

John: As a person living in Seoul, Korea, I feel that our air quality is affected severely by the neighboring countries. I felt this with the skin at the start of the pandemic when, I am not indicating a particular country but, our neighboring countries went on a shut down.

I understand that there are a lot of innovative ways to save the earth. It can be a new technology or a new source of information. But these new “Knowledges” need to be populated for the people to actually adopt. This can sound cheesy but by using our solution I strongly think that the new ideas can be spread out.
